Alaska/Horizon Airlines Peanut Policy

May serve peanuts on flights, but does serve products containing peanut ingredients, and will only create a buffer zone (if requested).

Alaska Airlines' policy reads as follows:
"Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air acknowledge passenger concerns regarding peanut allergies. For this reason we do not want to create false expectations of the aircraft environment. We are unable to guarantee a peanut- or allergen-free flight, nor can we prevent other passengers from bringing peanuts or products containing peanuts onboard our flights.
However, we will make every effort to not serve peanuts in the entire row you are seated in, the seats one row directly in front and behind you, creating a "peanut buffer zone."
In order to receive this service we need the following assistance from you:
  1. Once you have confirmed your reservation, contact Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air Reservations and advise that you are requesting a "peanut buffer zone" for a traveler with a peanut allergy.
  2. At the departure gate for each flight, advise the agent that you have requested a "peanut buffer zone".
  3. As you board the aircraft, advise the flight attendant that you have requested a "peanut buffer zone".
If we know in advance of your flight that we're unable to provide a "peanut buffer zone" for your specific flight, Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air will allow you and your party to change or refund your ticket (s) without a change fee.
Alaska Airlines/Horizon Air meals and snacks may contain peanut-related ingredients. We encourage passengers who are allergic to peanuts to bring along their own food items for travel.
The above policy is effective July 29, 2004."
